WASHINGTON, USA, Oct. 8, 2026 - NASA's James Webb Space Telescope captured new infrared images revealing protostars and young stars within the NGC 7129 nebula.[1] The James Webb Space Telescope and the VLT are also being used to survey biased halos and analyze circumgalactic medium metal enrichment at redshifts greater than 6.[2] Impact Insight. Infrared light passes through dust that blocks visible light, which is why Webb can see young stars still wrapped in the clouds where they formed. There is no direct planetary-defense link: this is astronomy, though infrared observations are also how astronomers measure the sizes of asteroids.
